World first in Hasselt: Xior and PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts reach new heights together with "Classroom in the sky"

Xior Student Housing NV, the BE-REIT specialised in student housing in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal launches on Monday 21 September 2020 (the official starting day of the new academic year 2020-2021) a world first in Hasselt: "Classroom in the sky", together with PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Ben Lambrechts, general director of PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts, explains: "Traditionally, PXL starts with a number of prominent people who come to give an opening lecture during the starting week. This year, PXL will once again be able to present its students with a fine line-up of references through its network". For a number of speakers, however, this will not take place in an ordinary auditorium, but in a unique way and at a height of 50 metres. "A textbook example of anytime and anywhere learning".

For the implementation of the concept "The Fungroup" was called upon. Known all over the world with the concept "Dinner in the sky" where one can enjoy a Michelin-star dinner in the sky and in the meantime enjoy a spectacular view. Even for a meeting, concert or wedding at height, you can turn to Stefan Kerkhofs, inventor of the concept: "We hadn't done a classroom yet, but it will definitely be well ventilated up there”, Stefan laughs.

CEO of Xior Student Housing Christian Teunissen is happy to support the initiative: "We are currently putting the finishing touches to the exterior of our student tower on campus. There is no better way for us to give interested students an idea of the impressive view they will enjoy from their new student room. This way, we are literally showing our high-level student rooms!”
